THE MATH BEHIND THE ANSWER

Method & assumptions

y = ymin + (x − xmin) × (ymax − ymin) / (xmax − xmin)

Linear scaling, e.g. 4–20 mA. Input maximum must exceed minimum.

Results do not check every aspect of an electrical installation. The calculators follow US (NEC) practice only; a regional preset changes defaults such as voltage and units, and no result certifies NEC compliance.

Worked example

Input value: 12 · Input minimum: 4 · Input maximum: 20 · Output minimum: 0 · Output maximum: 100

Scaled output: 50

This example uses the stated inputs; results for the entered values appear above.
