THE MATH BEHIND THE ANSWER

Method & assumptions

1 hp = 745.7 W; 1 ft = 0.3048 m; dAWG = 0.127 × 92^((36−AWG)/39)

AWG conversion is geometric, not ampacity equivalence. Negative gauges: −1 = 00, −2 = 000, −3 = 0000.

Results do not check every aspect of an electrical installation. The calculators follow US (NEC) practice only; a regional preset changes defaults such as voltage and units, and no result certifies NEC compliance.
